I'm getting X-box Live and my room is on the other end of the house from the computer. We have Charter Hi-Speed internet and apparently we have a cable U.S.B modem. I'm not very smart when it comes to these things, and I was wondering: Can I hook up a wireless router to my cable modem, and a wireless receiver to my X-box? Or do I have to use a REALLY long ethernet cable?

  1. If your modem for some reason does not have an ethernet port, and only uses a usb connection, you will have to find a wireless router that accepts a usb connection for an input, and they are expensive. Any idea why you are hooked up through a usb cable and not an ethernet cable? A usb cuts your speeds down considerably and should only be used if there is a problem with your ethernet port on your computer.
