Can you use a xbox 360 wireless adapter, without having a wireless modem??

i have no clue if i can use it...and the support doesnt help from the microsoft website

  1. I don't recommend the xbox 360 wireless adapter because wireless is not always reliable, and the adapter only supports WEP.  It does not support WPA which is the security protocol that makes things secure.  WEP will only stop eavesdropping.

  2. no how would the wireless adapter get any signle if your modem anit sending out wireless signle?

  3. The wireless adapter is the thing that receives internet from a wireless router. So you WILL need a wireless router, unless your neighbors have one that doesn't have a password lock, you can just pirate theirs. Cheap wireless routers can go for $30-50, so it's not too much. I got mine for $70. Get a linksys brand
