  1. Ok if you want an iPhone-like iPod, you should get an iPod Touch. It can access the internet whenever wi-fi is available, and it has basically the same features without the phone. With iPods, you don't need a contract or to pay monthly or sign a contract or anything, unlike with a phone. Another downside to iPhones is that you can only get the $200 reduced price if you're a new member starting a new contract with AT&T. This makes you "eligible". Otherwise, the iPhone costs about $400 or $500. SO....If you aren't "eligible" or you don't really need the phone feature, I would definitely recommend an iPod. The Nano is great, I have one. The touch is even more advanced, and I have no reason to believe it's not worth the extra $150. You get more memory and more features! Hope this helps.

  2. You wouldn't need activation on a ipod its a music player.

Why would you spend all that money for an iphone just to listen to music?
