Can you use flood lights as grow lamps?

i know the lights need to be full spectum lights or whatever but idk if flood lighs are..

  1. depends what you're trying to grow.. ;]


  2. You have to keep lights no further than 4 inches from your plants or they get "leggy" and fall over..at 4 inches away flood lights will literaly fry them..I have 2  four foot lights with full spectrum bulbs and a small 2 foot light with the same..

  3. no, you need the UV part of the light band. Grow lamp bulbs are sold at hardware stores.

    Floods will not help or hurt.

  4. Floodlights are incandescent, and not full spectrum. Mix daylight (red spectrum) and cool white (blue spectrum) florescent bulbs for cheap grow lights. For best effect, the closer to the bulbs, the better.
