I have a leather belt and I want to add a long piece of fabric (for belly dance) but I don't think i can sew it on (if i can, how?). Can I use hot glue to attach it to the back of the belt?

  1. Well since I am assuming that you will be dancing a lot with this belt I would just go ahead and sew it. You can sew through leather, but it takes a special needle size, and you might break a few of them in the process. Hot glue should work though.

  2. Go to the hardware store and get some contact cement. Its kinda rubbery, but thin enough. Paint it on the leather and the fabric, wait 15 minutes then press together. Be careful to line it up first because once it touches, it wont move. We have an upholsterer in the family and have had some experience with this type of thing.

  3. Hot glue will hold, but not for ever. If you use a fabric that the glue can sink into it will hold for longer. (Ex. sheer, cotton, not poly or lycra fabric.
