  1. No ibuprofen is an anti inflamm ...so its for pains like periods pains etc or bad migranes. Its great for them!

take something mild like panadol(If your in the uk or ireland)

Otherwise try warm milk  to help soothe it and a hot water bottle!

  2. Neither ibuprofen nor aspirin should be used to treat stomach upsets, they both have similarly irritating effects on the stomach. Period cramps are a different matter of course, but I suppose that you do not mean that..I have taken a look on the net and this is the most useful thing I found...

       1. Eat if you think it might be related to hunger!

       2. Try to go to the bathroom.

       3. Your feet must be in a higher level than the rest of your body, put some pillows below your feet and the ache will go away.

       4. Eat an herb which aids digestion, such as ginger (ginger-ale, or ginger snaps), peppermint (gum and candy cane as long as it is real peppermint) or Aloe Vera Juice (an anti-parasitic that tastes terrible but aids digestion). Similar herb teas that help digestion include mint, ginger or chamomile tea.

       5. Place a heating pad on your abdomen to give temporary relief.

       6. Lie down for a few minutes and relax.

              * Close your eyes.

              * Place a cool moist washcloth over your forehead.

              * Breath slowly and evenly, trying to keep your mind off of the pain.

       7. Sip a glass of iced water slowly.

       8. Eat bland foods; crackers, bread, rice, etc. Sometimes stomach aches are caused by too much acid floating around in your stomach with nothing to do. These foods will help absorb the acid to make things a little more comfortable. Also, you may just be hungry!

       9. Avoid spicy or fast foods, heavy foods, rich desserts till your stomach balances out.

      10. Drinking black coffee tends to aid the digestive process.

      11. Try a Tums. Especially the fruit kind.

      12. Drink some flat lemonade

      13. Try carbonated beverages such as ginger ale, carbonated mineral water (mix with juice to add flavor), or tonic water (with quinine, tastes horrible but works!)

      14. Try lying on your stomach to ease the pain.

    [edit] Over-The-Counter Medications

       1. Take over-the-counter medications like Gas-ex to relieve the pressure from gas build up.

       2. Allow yourself to pass gas, even if you are in polite company. It may be somewhat embarrassing, but you do not want to allow yourself to become bloated or let the cramps become more serious and painful. Also, go into another room such as the bathroom to pass gas if you do not want to be embarrassed.

       3. Take a mild laxative to encourage a bowel movement for relief.

       4. Try Emitrol or Imodium to relieve cramps associated with diarrhea. Pepto-Bismol may help some stomach related pains, along with other OTC products. Check labels in the drug store or ask the pharmacist for their advice.

       5. Do not stop taking medication prescribed by your doctor. All medications should be taken unless the doctor indicates otherwise.

  3. take paracetomol instead ibuprofen is not good for your stomach. or go to your doctors if youre not sure what it is

  4. Use aspirin or paracetamol as Ibruprofen makes a sicky tummy feel sicker.

  5. It is about the worst thing you can do, these drugs are irritant on the stomach and can cause ulcers. I have to say I would have thought that it was pretty clear when it says ' you can't use them for stomach disorders' that it means you can't use them for stomach disorders!!!!!!!

  6. Any NSAIDS cause the cuboidal cells in the stomach to NOT produce mucus which protects the stomach from its own acid.  No mucus, the acid eats away your stomach cell lining leading to pain, pain and more pain.  Do you have any blood in your stool?

  7. dont take it! ibuprofen is very harsh on the stomach, will make the problem worse.u need a medicine containing bismuth,to soothe and coat ur stomach.we have pepto bismol, dont know what its called in the u.k dont take paracetamol, that wont help either.anything with bismuth,or any anti-acid preparation should help.

  8. I'm not  a dr but do know quite a lot about painkillers having had a constant headache for 4 years.   Ibuprofen can be a bit harsh on the stomache if you take the full dose for a few days.  If you've never had sensitivity to ibuprofen or aspirin give it a go.  I am sensitive to aspirin as a discovered when i used to take it for period pains it gives me abdominal pain.  I can take ibuprofen but not for more than a couple of days.   I should go to the dr though if you don't know what the pain is and if you've had it for a while. If it's constipation i have found that no painkillers work.  I think it would be very unlikely to cause you any problems if you just took 1 or 2 to see if the pain goes, but paracetamol might be better if you can take that.

  9. I'm so sorry that you're hurting. Ibuprofen will not help a stomach ache. It can actually cause one.

Try something that will coat the lining of your stomach. Kaopectate or Pepto Bismal. Then consult with your doctor. Hope you feel better.

  10. I think you should consult someone knowledgeable call NHS Direct on 0845 46 47 and a nurse will talk to you. The service is active 24hrs a day. Hope you feel better!

  11. Ibuprofen, and also Asprin will irritate a stomache ache. However, Paracetamol is safe to take for stomache aches.

  12. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this but Ibuprofen is an anti inflamatory, not a pain killer as such!  It helps with things like headaches because there is swelling or constricting involved.

I wouldn't be taking anything until I knew what the pain was really.

Stomach ache is not a stomach disorder.

talk to your GP or as someone did mention - talk to NHS direct, they're really good and helpful.  Never make you feel silly.

  13. It means that if youve got a stomach ulcer it will probably irritate it and make it worse. If its period pain youve got, then yes it will be ok! You havent said what is wrong with your stomach, need more info!!

  14. you are eating too fast and may be hot and spicy foods. You try it eating slowly and chew it well.Drink plenty water but not with meals 30 minutes before or 1 hour after meals.Your stomach is prodding gastric acid which comes up wards when lying down.Drink fresh ginger tea and peppermint tea.Do not drink much Coffey or tea .You might be having stress or anxiety or other problems. So be happy when having you meals.3-4 cups of ginger tea is very good.Do ou have any burning or tight chest as well .It could be from eating out spicy foods or chllies.
