  1. Yes, you can use your Minolta film collections on Minolta/Sony DSLR.

However, more than likely, you will lose some key features depend on the lens design, since they only share the lens mounting.

Beside, when you use the film lens, the focal length will be longer than the digi lens.

  2. When Minolta launched their autofocus line of cameras and lenses in 1985 they remade their mount entirely both mechanically and electronically. So you cant even fit a manual Minolta lens on a newer Minolta or Sony digital camera, however you can adapt a manual Minolta lens on a digital SLR from Olympus with the four/thirds mount.

But this will be entirely manual, both focus and aperture settings will not work as you are used to. Please see attached link. If you have many manual Minolta lenses which you like to use, this would be a possibility.

  3. no.

the old lenses do not have the contacts for the new electronic equipment

  4. Any Minolta Maxxum AF lens will mount to the current Sony DSLR cameras.

Minolta MC/MD manual focus lenses can be used with an adapter for the A-mount (Minolta Maxxum, Konica-Minolta D5 & D7 DSLRs and current Sony DSLR) cameras.

There is an adapter to use Minolta MC/MD mount lenses on the Canon DSLR cameras.
