I still have pain pills from when I hurt my knee and the expiration date is 6-08 I was told they still have strength in them, and that they last for about 3 months even after the expiration date. I dont want to take them if I may get sick.

  1. I was told by a nurse practicioner in my GP office(?) that my hydrocod(abbreviation for generic Vicodin) was good for at least 3 years. There was an article in AARP magazine that said many meds are good for a lot longer than the exp. date. ___________Check with your doctor first!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Ummm how do you think Heath Ledger died?  Meds are only meant for a certain time frame then you are "suppose" to throw them out.  Some people get meds from the doctor then combine them with old meds at home.  Then they go to the hospital for an "accidental overdose".  Smart huh???

  3. Well, you CAN use it but its risky.  The pain pills won't go "bad" but may have adverse effects they may not otherwise have had.

If its only past a few days I wouldn't be too worried since its most likely not psychotropic

  4. No please dont do it  it can be dangerous to your health

  5. NO

  6. no because the chemicals change and could give you a different effect than it should

  7. Well. Would you drink old milk that has turned yellow. Look, Don't be an idiot and die because of expired chemicals. GET NEW ONES. Some one like you should REALLY go back to PRESCHOOL.

  8. Just like milk, medication has an expiration date. U may still use it but it won't help you at all. The duration of the medicine has long left, effects are none.

  9. For a particular medication, check with a pharmacist.  There may be a sell by date that still allows it to be used for a reasonable period.  Certain chemical compounds may break down with time and may not be fully effective and may actually become dangerous.  The pharmacist may tell you how to store medications (a cool dark place or in a refrigerator, etc.) to obtain maximum shelf life.  Usually it is best to discard expired medications and obtain a new prescription as needed.
