Can you use normal clips on the velodrome???

  1. When you say normal clips I take it you mean standard systems like SPD etc? The answer is yes. For most starts, the cyclist is clipped in and starts from a standing position (i.e..clipped in).


  2. You can, but it may be safer to go for straps, especially if your getting into the leg weights. Ive seen a heap of accidents (a few being the wheel in front of me) where the person goes into a sprint and pulls their foot. If your only going to do time trials etc, you may not need it, and if you wear those black cleats that dont really have much free float, you foot may not pull any way. I know alot of non sprinters that use clips and never have issues, andd they dont spent ages strapping up all the time?!

    (EDIT: for ashley bellow me, man its the new people that ive seen stack it! ive seen standing starts stack it, though they did it slower. I know coaches that wont let new riders ride with out straps)
