Can you use normal skateboard grip tape for a wakeskate and it still work or do I need to buy a certain brand?

I need to know asap and the people say that they don't know if skateboard grip tape would be waterproof enough

you need to buy wakeskate tape that is specially made for water conditions and also because a wakeskates grip tape is almost foam and help your stance/foot security.

The grit on the skateboard tape wont stick because of the water itself try to get your skateboard wet and then go out skating. it don't work. The good stuff is just normal athletic tape. The whole nose of my board is covered with the stuff. makes it easier to cut
