Can you use principal component analysis of only 10 samples with more than 30 variables being observed?

  1. You might be able to if more than 20 variables are truly redundant.  It takes at least 31 samples to even begin to define 30 variables, and even 2 principal components would not be likely to be well defined by only 10 samples.
