Can you use "Bushisms" such as "strategery" in a game of Scrabble?

  1. You are allowed to "bluff" in Scrabble.  Although "strategery" is not in the Official Scrabble Players Dictionary (OSPD) which defines the set of playable words in the US, Canada and Israel, you can try and get away with words like that.  If your opponent does not "challenge" the play, the word stays on the board, and you get the points.  

    If your opponent decides to challenge, however, you will lose your turn with words like that.  

    Of course, over time, words sometimes migrate into the language from Presidents.  

    For example, the word "Normalcy" was popularlized by Warren Harding.  Perhaps that will happen to strategery :-)

    (But I think not.)


  2. Well, sure you can if you want to play a game using special rules and the other players agree.  My daughter and I often play Scrabble by our own rules.

  3. no, sorry they would be considered slang and therefore not in the scrabble dictionary, or any dictionary for that matter.

  4. no. some of the words he uses aren't real words. if they're not in the dictionary, you can't use them.
