Can you use regular laundry detergent in a front loader.?

Hmm seems we are all torn here on answers. I have used regular and it does get very bubbly, so I cut it in half and seems ok, but I don't want to ruin washer. I mean laundry mats used front loaders for years and they didn't have HE detergent back then.

NO!!!!  It has to be High Efficiency It will be marked HE on the bottle

Yes and only use 1/4 to 1/3 or u will have a bubble machine.

use only half of what you would use in a reagular loader. If you don't you will have to rense 2 or 3 times to get the soap out of your clothes

yes just find out if washer is the kind where less detergent is to be used it seems that those types of washers have sensors and if they sense more detergent more water is added, therefore clothes will come out soaking wet , very little detergent is needed

and no do not buy HE detergent can still regular ones, don't fall for it just use less, try it , try it, try it !!! and let us know how it went

but n my opinion liquid is always better specially for dark jeans detergent tends to leave white streaks on them........ and colors fade faster

well no there was no he detergent but now there is HE washers which use only 1/3 or detergent, which is the purpose for the environment sake!  we were not so aware of he environment back then as we are now.

everything is been made to save either water, electricity, detergent Etc, Etc.

just use less detergent and you'll see

You need HE detergent if your washer specifies. Otherwise, it JUST being a frontloader doesn't warrant it needing the special HE detergent. Check with the manufacturer. It will say HE on the machine somewhere as well.

I have had a front loader for years, and i have aways had a front loader, and i have always used regular laundry detergent in it, and had no problems, if you want you can put the powder in a special powder holder and put the powder into the machine with the clothes place it on top of the clothes and toward the back, that is if you don't want to use the soap despencer drawer. You normally get the powder holders when you buy a very big packet of detergent, also if you are going to the laundrymat why don't you take your normal powder with you and use that instead of what they have, as that is what i have done in the past when i didn't have a machine, also i found that after a while of using a laundrymat my clothes have gone dingy grey looking after a few washes, that is why i am so glad i have my own machine at home.

No. You have to get the HE kind. The regular stuff is too concentrate and will build up in the dispenser. It sucks.
