  2. sure

  3. Salutations,

My idea of toad in the hole never got that complex, so I would not. Cheers

  4. To me toad in the hole is a piece of bread with the middle cut out and and egg cracked in the middle and fried on both sides.

  5. If using a recipe like this one omit the baking powder if using self rising flour.

    TOAD IN THE HOLE

    Serves 4.

    2 slices bacon

1/2 lb. fresh pork sausage (8 or 9 links), cut in 1/2 inch pieces

    1 c. all-purpose flour

    1 tsp. baking powder

    1 1/2 c. milk

    3 eggs

Cook bacon until crisp; drain and set aside 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon; set aside. Brown sausage in same skillet; drain. Meanwhile, mix flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon salt. Add milk and eggs; beat until smooth. Spread bacon drippings in 10 x 6 x 2-inch baking dish. Place sausage in dish; top with bacon. Pour batter over. Bake at 400 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.

hope this helps.               good luck and enjoy.
