Can you use skype from a cruise ship?

My last cruise was only 3 months ago and I don't remember anyone even looking as if they were using Skype.

I don't think you could unless you have your own account set up and your own equipment. Even then I think you would have problems getting it set up as all the computers were inaccessible to the users.  

I can't see why you would want to try it on a cruise ship where the cost of using the Internet makes even rich people's eyes water.

You would be cheaper going ashore and using an Internet cafe or a public phone.

I could not skype on the computer in my office, skype, like msn etc was firewalled.

With a lap top you can, but its very unstable.
