They don't specify fronts but are most often used on the front legs but would they be okay to use on all four? I saw some girl at a rodeo running her horse with Equine Choice Boots on the front w/ Bell Boots and really simple not so nice splints on the back? Are splints able to work on all four legs of the equine?

  1. I like these size medium because they are specially made for front and backs, here is a pack of 4

  2. Hey. You can use boots on the back, but when you go to the tack store, you ask for a front set and a back set. The back sets are usually longer because there is more surface area on the hind legs to cover for the tendons.

Just a suggestion, I suggest also looking at the gel-tec boots. Similar to these ones, but they have gel on the insides to mold to each horse individually and they are very comfortable. The shell is harder and they have double velcrow.  Here is a picture with some info, you should check them out, my horse loves them.

    Good luck!

  3. It depends on how the manufacturer created them.  Some exercise boots are created to work equally as well on the hind as the fore - others are created differently for the hind and fore as they may work differently.

The boots you show are for the fronts as the front suspensory ligaments and tendons are under more stress they typically require more support.

  4. They make back splint boots - that match the fronts - Classic Equine and many others!

  5. You can use any splint on all four legs. Really all the legs on a horse have the same general shape below the knee except the hinds are bent out a little more. I have four splint boots which both pairs where probably made for the front. I know you can buy splints for the back and a pair for the front but it would probably end up costing more when you can just buy two pairs of one kind and be the same way.  If you get neoprene splints they also form to the legs! I would suggest neoprene if you are going for the front/back.

  6. yes you can use splint boots on all four. I use Professional's Choice SMB Elite Boots on all four legs of my barrel mare and i really like them. They protect really good and support the fetlock so theres no hyperextension. Also they help prevent bowed tendons.

  7. im not 100% but im pretty sure you can

    EDIT:

i just checked.. you can but you have to buy the hind boots for the hind legs...
