Can you use the iphone like an ipod touch?

My college is giving students iphones. Yet I already have a cell phone trough my family's plan. Can I use my iphone like a ipod even if I don't buy a plan to go with it?

Yeah you can. I had an iPhone. After I turned it off Its EXACTLY like an iPod Touch. You can still add music and videos. And you can still use Wifi Hotspots to connect to the internet.

Yes, but the catch is you HAVE to have phone service to use it.  That's one of the reasons Verizon turned down the phone.
