If it is a credit card then yes, if it is a debit card then no.  Debit cards and personal cheques are not acceptable in the Canary Islands as they cannot be 'cleared' through Spain.

no problem at all you may need to cary id with you if you purchase in shops but cash machine will accept it no problem

Yes you can.

If you use a cash machine you will be charged. It's not much but dont keep taking a little out everyday, you will be charged everytime.

Paying in shops, you will need i.d. and/or your pin.

If the card has Maestro on the reverse or Cirrus, then you won't have too many probloems, try to take a spread of resources, cash, and cards, most places in the UK do free exchanges of £'s to €'s

Debit cards are usually accepted but not cheques drawn on Uk banks

i think you can,i travelled abroad once and used it without any significant problems.Ask your bank or something for advice if you want to.
