Can you use wax paper insted of transfer paper to make your own tee shirt?

Wax paper won;t work. The transfer paper has plastic on it. When you print your design, the printer ink goes onto the plastic. Then when you iron the plastic, it melts onto your shirt, taking the ink with it.
