Can you visit USAMRIID? If you can what safety measures are taken to check those who visit?

Yes you can.  Much like the CDC or any other government research facility, ordinary people can be allowed in.  Obviously, you will be restricted to most areas.  If you know someone that works there, they can allow you in and I believe that they also give tours as well (not sure).  They, just like most government facilities, have safety measures like car screenings, metal detectors, and a large security team to keep track of the facility.  If you go, you will have to have an escort with you at all times.
