I love Ashley's answer even though the earth itself had nothing to do with the destruction of the dinosaurs.  History shows us that burying our heads is exactly what we do.  How many stories do we see everyday about companies that went out of business 30, 40, 50 years ago having left huge areas of toxic land because of illegal dumping?  Even now we are burying huge amounts of radioactive waste in mountains of Nevada.  Future generations a 1000 years down the line will find those surprises.
