I'm just wondering if people can do this?

...I am so bored here since summer. I need more to do and I have a month trip mid-July so I can't get a job...

I also don't have a car but I can walk to schools around the neighborhood.

  1. You can volunteer almost anywhere you want. People are always needed to help out in many jobs without pay. During school months I help with reading and math for a lot of students, Sometimes I take kids to eat lunch while the teacher heads for the teachers lounge for a much needed break.. You can volunteer at the local hospital or library too. Do you have public bus transportation? This would help you in getting around.

  2. Absolutely.  Public and private schools around here Western New York, are always looking for volunteers, classroom aides, anyone who is willing to work with children and their studies, reading groups, etc.  Start walking and apply.  Good luck

  3. You have to get a background check to work with kids. If they're out, the librarian always needs help.

  4. Of course! This is exactly what I do during the school year when I have free time from my college classes. I'm sure that any school would love to have volunteers come to the school to help out. I have volunteered for kindergarten classrooms for 2 years now and it really is an experience. I have helped with everything from reading, writing, flash cards, etc. I would talk to the schools in your local area by either calling or going to the school to show your interest in helping.
