Like put it on a lease and go running with it? Or they don't have a flock instinct?

  1. I put my cat on a leash and for a while she walked with me But not for long after about three minutes she laid down and wouldn't get up to save her life.

  2. Some cats will and some won't.

They are easier to train to a leash if you start when they are young.

My cat don't like the leash - but he will wear it if he has to. LOL

  3. You can take your cats for walk, they have cat harnesses available, but I doubt that you could run with them, cats chase legs, and chase string so you would pretty much be confined to walking.

  4. It entirely depends on the cat.  There used to be an older lady who lived near me who would walk her cat on a harness up and down the street every day.  Generally, cats don't like wearing leashes or harnesses, and they especially hate to be forced to do anything.

Keep in mind that cats are more skittish than dogs, so trying to walk one in an area where there's a lot of noise or traffic will probably have them trying to climb you to get away.  If you put a leash on your cat and it panicks, don't force it;  cats are notorious for finding ways to hurt themselves when they're frightened.  You can try it out on a leash indoors and see what happens.

  5. Um i dont think it would be a good idea to run with it because you would probably be dragging it but if your just walking ya you can walk almost any pet

  6. There are two answers to this question.

    A. If it is a inside cat then you could get it a leash (a long one) and take it outside. It would probably go hunting and things like that. So it would be hard to walk.

    B. If it is a outside cat your chances of getting it to walk are higher. We have two inside/outside cats and they follow us when we go walking almost like dogs. You could try putting some string around a belt loop or your ankle or whatever then go walking. your cat should try to chase the string. You could also try just walking and your cat might follow you.

  7. You can only walk a cat, they won't be too happy if you try to run with them. If you want to walk your cat with a leash, it's best that you train them to get used to it as a kitten otherwise they will reject it.

  8. I don't think you could run with a cat, they aren't really built for running long distances.  As far as a harness goes, some cats will walk with one; I know my cat didn't, when I put it on her she just froze.  Try walking your cat around the house on a harness and see what he/she does.

  9. haha you could but the cat wont be impressed, trust me

  10. lol I've seen it done... Never running with them, but walking yes.  I think it takes a very special cat... Hehe.  I've never been able to get my cats to take to it, but you may as well try!  I would recommend a harness, not a collar, as collars can be slipped quite easily.

  11. Walking - YES!  Running - not so much - they are much smaller than dogs, and will exhaust very quickly.  I have successfully trained all five of my cats to go for walks with me (yes, all at the same time). (I started training them when they were young) .They each have their own "figure 8" harness and a leash, and know that when the leash basket is opened, it's time to line up, get harnessed and leashed, and head for the big outdoors. Be prepared for a leisurely walk - they enjoy strolling and smelling smells. I never do this when it is too hot or cold, and only go around the block with them.  Cats don't have a flock instinct - they have a pride instinct, like a pride of lions.  Have fun!
