Can you watch HDDVDs on a Xbox 360 arcade?

I am on vacation right now and we are borrowing an Xbox 360 arcade and we wanted to watch an HDDVD on it and I would like to know if it works on it.

I know it works on the pro but I'm not sure about the arcade

No. The Xbox Arcade does not have an HD DVD drive built in (and never will since HD DVD died).

You would have to buy the peripheral if they are still selling it.

And it does not work on the pro either, who ever told you that lied.

No Xbox 360 has a built in HD DVD drive, they can only play standard DVDs.

No, HD DVD is a defunct format and you need the Xbox 360 HD DVD add on to play HD DVDs. But unfortunately, they are no longer being made. And btw, none of the 360 models can play HD DVDs on their own. They can play standard DVDs but you need the add on.
