I am flying to DC on Wednesday and I want to wear these brown khaki's with large metal buttons on the back pockets and at the bottom of the leg. Are they still ok to wear or would it be a bad idea?

  1. Taylor, I suggest that you wear something with plastic or bone buttons. Anything but metal.

  2. You can wear them, BUT the metal content may end up with you tagged for secondary screening.  This is where you will be taken aside and checked with a wand.  They may also ask you to open your carry-on.

Generally speaking, I'd say leave the pants behind and avoid the hassle, or if you do wear them, allow extra time for screening.

  3. wear whatever you want.
