I have 4 Alpine type r 1242d Dual 4 ohm voice coil subwoofers and i was wondering if i would be able to wire them down to 2 ohms? i'm going to be using 2 pdx.1000 watt amps to power it all and im just wondering what my final outcomes can be? Can i make it 2 ohm? 4 ohm? 8 ohm? And which would be the loudest outcome?

  1. You can wire to a 2 ohm load.

Use the diagram below to figure out how to wire your subs.

    Good Luck!!!

  2. Your best bet would be to wire them at the lowest impedance. 2 ohms is the lowest most amplifiers can handle, although some go lower. 2 ohms would give you the most "bang for your buck." Use these calculators to see images of how to wire them:

  3. yes

  4. 4 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Series / Parallel

Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in series (+ to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:

    Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 3 Ohms

    Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 2 Ohms

    Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 1 Ohm

    Dual-1.5 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.75 Ohm

4 DVC drivers with Voice Coils in Parallel / Parallel

Connecting the two voice coils of each driver in parallel (+ to +, - to -) and the drivers themselves in parallel (+ to +, etc.) will result in the following impedances:

    Dual-6 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.75 Ohm

    Dual-4 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.5 Ohm

    Dual-2 Ohm Subwoofers: 0.25 Ohm

    Dual-1.5 Ohm Subwoofer: 0.19 Ohm
