My neice seems to get hayfever, she tries to itch her eyes and nose and sneezes and blinks a lot, usually more so when outside and when my brother and myself find ourselves suffering because of hayfever.

Can babies this young get hayfever? If so, how should she be treated for it, if at all?

  1. probably they get hayfever shortly after they are born, maybe it get passed down

  2. Doctors will tell you that they are too young to develop allergies, but I disagree.  My son sneezed from the day he was born and ended up having horrible allergies.  It is something that inherited so if one of the parents suffer from allergies most likely it is allergies.  Unfortunately, I can't really say there is much you can do at that age.  The only thing that you can really give a newborn is some saline spray to help a little in the nose.  Once my son turned 6 months the doctor started him on Zyrtec.

Good luck, I know how it feels being an allergy suffer who passed it along to my children.

  3. Most doctors will  tell you that babies that young are too young for allergy problems. I don't know if I totally believe this or not...how can they be allergic to certain types of formula if they can't have "allergies".

Here is a website I just found that discusses it:
