Can young childern really see ghosts?

my 2 yr old son I think is recently seeing something. He would point out the window or an area and say a name i think he cannot pronouce well yet, but he calls him "boowie". When I ask him where "boowie" is, sometimes he would say "boowie walk" ,"boowie, no more" or "boowie byebye"...then he would see "boowie" again on another random day. Sometimes when we ask him where "boowie" is he would ignore the question. Some say it's an imaginary friend, but i don't think so, he is too young and he would "see" him randomly, out of the blue. I'm not so sure what to do.

My in laws house, I was upstair, my son was in the kitchen downstairs....he was a baby and was giggling and laughing, and I could hear footsteps walking in the kitchen. Big heavy footsteps... thought it was his grandad as he was gardening, he had come in etc, then I looked out the window, and his grandad was at the end of the garden! I ran downstairs and no one was there! My son was smiling... This house, (his grandparents) is haunted, all family members had experiences so whaoooaaaa.
