Can young people adopt a child?

I always hear about older rich people adopting children because they couldn't have a child of their own. I had my first child at 26 years old but am thinking about adoption for my 2nd child. Is it too expensive for younger couples? Do you pay it off as a loan?

I'm 26 and have adopted 3 children. They have been with me sense I was 23. So ya young adults can adopt children. If you adopt through foster care it is free or low cost. If you choose another route you could fiance it with a home equity loan or personal loan.

There's nothing to stop a twenty- or thirtysomething couple from adopting.  (As a caveat, some international adoption programs do have a minimum age requirement, but many others do not.  Domestic adoption and foster adoption do not as well).

The cost of adoption really depends on the route chosen.  Foster adoption is the least expensive.  You can talk to a state foster care services office for more information on the process, requirements, training, etc.

Domestic infant adoption can be pretty expensive, it also has the least predictable timeframe.  You can talk to adoption agencies as to the process, requirements, etc.  

There is a huge variation between different international programs.  Some can cost more than infant domestic, others do not.  Some have strict requirements for the adoptive parents, others have less requirements.  Some require travel, others do not.  There are so many variables here that it's better to research the programs individually, if you are considering this route.  

Some people take out jobs, cut spending, etc, in order to finance their adoptions.  Others borrow from 401K or refinance homes, then put the money back with the adoption tax credit.  It's a matter of what's right for your family finances.

If you're considering adoption, I always recommend doing your homework.  Research all of the options thoroughly, talk to experts in the field, talk to adult adoptees, talk to adoptive parents.  Get as much info as you can before making a decision.

U know, this is only 1 reason Y I don't have kids. I'm scraping by & bringing kids in2 the pic isn't fair 2 them. yrs ago I read an obituary of an elderly lady who never married or had any children cuz she just cudn't afford 2 raise them rite. I wish I wudda known her, cuz we're in the same boat, except I'm much younger. i feel if ppl cannot afford 2 feed themselves shound never have kids, cuz it's not fair 2 them, even if U go w/o 2 feed them. They NEED healthy ppl 2 raise them, & if they ever got hurt & U cudn't get insurance or even govt medicaid 4 whatever reason yer family must go uninsured, docs may not wanna C u if u cant pay 4 the visit, & there's no insurance 2 help. wen ppl R scraping by, it wudn't B right 2 drag innocent kids in2 de pic. it's even better not 2 even date, eliminating any possibility of it going further & impregnating.

what i'm saying is, if ppl cannot afford themselves, they really shouldn't have kids, it's not right, & very unfair 2 them. we should never have kids we clearly cannot afford. the same goes 4 home/car loans; we should never buy what we cannot afford. in dating, U play U pay. can't afford kids? keep yer pants on.

my husband and I had our first child at 26/25.  We are in process of adopting a child.  Adoption agencies do not charge more or less based on your age.  So it really depends on how much you make now, or how much you have in savings.  Check out your local foster care agency.  Normaly adoptions are cheaper when the child is in foster care.

anyone over the age of 21 can adopt. aslong as you can prove you have space for the child in your home and that you can financial and emotionally support the child. i dont really know how the system works when it comes to adopting some countries are different. there should be plenty of info on the net about it.

I think the adoption maybey expensive, but the raising of the child would be the same as having a child. If you are financially stable and have lots of love to give, then I cant see a problem. Not sure how it works in USA. my parents only paid for the court fees. The agency who delt with my adoption ran on charity donations.

You pretty much have to make 6 figures a year to adopt a child. That's why so many kids go unadopted; the government is way too frickin picky to let the average american adopt.

As long as your heart and family can afford it, yes. Sure. If you really want to adopt a child as your own, then you should go for it.

If you adopt through foster care, it's free.  Most infants don't need a new family.  If their parents had a little extra support, they'd probably be able to keep their child, so that's not really a good way to adopt.  Domestic infant adoption is fraught with corruption and coercion.  At least if you adopt through foster care, you can be pretty sure that you're giving a home to a child who actually needs one.  Good luck!

Im 23 and going to adopt internationally. There are certain countries that will let you adopt at that age and others that wont. Yes its expensive and yes Im going to pay for it.  But the homestudy and agency dont require you own a home, or make a ton of money, just that you can manage what you do make, and support a child on it.

Alot of times there are older couples adopting is because they have put off children for their careers, waited yo get married, or tried for a really long time time to have bio kids. There are younger familys adopting.My husband and I have have been trying for 4 years and before we spend 10's of thousands on fertility I would much rather helpout a orphan who is already here.

There are lots of loans and grant to help with adoption, or you can take out a home equity loan if you own a home.

as long as you are stable thats all that matters you dont need a mansion and to be rich etc, if you can provide for a child thats what they look for, and as you already have one then thats even better. i think you have to be 21 to adopt in the uk so it will be fine for you. and its no different to whether you are 26 or 46. good luck.
