Question:

Can your ACT test scores expire?

I want to take the ACT as a sophomore, but my brother and my dad say that the ACT score will expire by the time I'm doing college admissions.

Is this true?

Can you bring evidence to support your answer?

  1. No, these test scores never expire! That's crazy! My dad wanted to go back to school at age 60, over 40 years past his last college test scores and they were still valid.

Sometimes the scores for ACT and SAT are re-centered or adjusted, so they won't compare point for point to older scores, but that doesn't make the older scores invalid. They just fit on different scales and have to be considered that way.

One good thing about waiting... in your junior year, you may learn some new skills that will help you.
