Can your credit status eliminate your chances for a job?

I dont have any bankru. or liens but do have outstanding credit card debt. My crdit score went from 700 to 430 in 4 months with unpaid credit card debt. I have been unemployed for 4 months.

  1. You really need to call the credit bureaus, Experian, Trans Union and Equifax. You get one free credit report a year, you can read it to find out. They should try to help you straighten out your report. I did it online.


  2. Some employers do credit checks, so yes it's possible.

  3. It depends on different jobs, if this is what they use to determine employment, then it will be a problem.

  4. It depends on the position you're applying for.  If it's management, then yes.  

    If you get the chance to explain yourself before they pull it, then do so.

    Everyone has a hard time at least once in their life.
