I wear both my wedding band and my engagement ring on my left hand. I had an group interview yesterday and was told if I get the job I can only wear one ring on each hand. By law can an employer tell me I can't wear my engagement and wedding band on the same hand? I live in NJ.

  1. No and the two rings combined should be considered one if they could do that.  Who told you that?  Is your ring nice?  Really nice?  Maybe who ever said it is jealous of your ring?

  2. Yes.

Your employer can make rules whenever he likes, and you as his employer has to obey.

In my company, we're only allowed to wear a wedding BAND.

EDIT: This question should be in Law and Ethics too dear.

  3. no but they can control piercings and tattoos..

  4. because your jewelry isn't "fashion" driven no they can't tell you not to wear them. speak to someone the HRD or if they don't have one a lawyer. if you really want the job, take the rings off until you get in and then put them back on. not wearing the ring for a few hours may seem like a big deal but they can't fire you for wearing wedding jewelry.
