  1. Preschools do not need your agreement to up the cost of care (if they did this, then it would never go up!) I don't beleive there is anything in regulations to say they must give prior warning to a price increase. In saying that, it is common courtesy to give forewarning and most preschools would give forewarning, whether it be by way of a sign on the door or through a newsletter etc.

    It is standard practice to increase the costs every 1-2 years to cover wage increases, inflation etc.


  2. you most likely signed something saying that they reserved the right to raise the price without notice.  Many contracts include a phrase like this.

  3. You should have signed a contract when you enrolled your child. That contract should give you information about fees. Lacking a contract, they can do what they want. Ask them why. It may be that they had a big jump in rent or insurance. It is unusual for programs to change fees in the middle of a school year, unless it is a year round program that sets fees annually in January.
