I thought I saw him today and I was violating, but I'm not sure if he knew it. It was at a sports bar and I didnt see him until I walked out. Would he have done something right then and there?

  1. Any citizen can file a complaint alleging a violation of your probation, and it will be investigated. Therefore, if your probation officer observes a violation, you can be held accountable for it.

  2. Yes, they are "on duty" all the time. Just like a police officer can actually arrest you when they are off duty, but usually they won't. They will call someone on duty to do so.

  3. yes

  4. The first answerer is correct. They do not have to necessarily make an issue of it there,or at all,and can after the fact.

  5. Your probation officer may be 'off the clock' but he is never 'off duty'.  Assuming he did see you, he can file a report and 'violate' you the next time he is 'on the clock'.  As long as you were not presenting an immediate threat to someone, there is no reason to ruin HIS day by busting you on the spot.

  6. Yes, of course if he sees you in violation of your probation he will bust you. It doesn't matter whether he's on or off duty.

It would be stupid and dangerous for him to contact you when his was off duty. He doesn't need to bust you there and then for you to be screwed. he will just write it up the next time he is in the office.

Probation was an opportunity for you to prove than you could man-up and keep yourself out of trouble, and that you didn't need some jail time..well done

  7. LOL  Unfortunately, yes!  Their job is round the clock.  Especially when their off hours of being off the clock is the most likely time a person will violate.

  8. DUH.  Criminals commit crimes 24/7, people violate probation and parole 24/7.  Why would the police/probation/parole officers not also be 24/7?

  9. you're on 24/7 probabtion. therefor, they are never off duty.

    so yes, they can.

  10. Yes they can...

  11. Your probation officer is NEVER off duty!
