  1. as long as there not paying youre rent or giveing you cash for rrent or food they can give you food but not cash for food

they ccan pay for power heat ect bills but rent you would lose benifits

they can give you stuff like furnicher to or gas money or help with medical expeses without any penalty to

  2. most charities do not give out cash, they give food/ clothing donations.  If by some chance a charity did in fact give you money then yes you would have to report it

  4. Yes but it will probably not be in the form of cash given to you because most charities and ministries assist ppl by paying a bill directly to the vendor like the light co or the landlord or by providing food or clothes.   This assistance is NOT reportable income for SSI purposes. The exception to that would be a charity that has a work assistance type program and pays participants directly such as some Salvation Army bell ringers at Christmas and Caring Hands Ministries Work Assistance program that helps ppl who can't work regular jobs or can't fond a job earn the help they need.Pay that goes directly to the person does need to be reported for both SSI and Food Stamps

Most ministries and agencies have eligibility verification processes and help with food, power bills etc only when there is an emergency (like a shut off threat) and some good reason why the person did not pay their bill.   They do not intend their help to be a regular supplement but a once or twice a yr or in the case of food once a month or so source of emergency help.
