Can your salary be changed after it is stated in a signed contact?

will be starting work as a teacher (unqualified) in the UK from September whilst I train through an employment based route. The school have been very generous (paying top end of unqualified scale £26746 outerlondon) but I am concerned that they could 'pull' this amount after. I have agreed employment to the terms set, and signed the contract which states the scale.

you could get a promotion which would increase your amount of income

As far as i know, your salary cannot be decreased once you have signed a contact. To decrease a salary there must be a change in contract i think.

If they want to alter your contract they need to give you 3 months notice.
