Question:

Can your vision blur a little when you have conjunctivitus (pink eye)?

Two days ago I woke up in the middle of the night with some watery discharge. The discharge has not come back since. For the last two days, my eyes have been pretty red. You can just see the blood vessels and stuff, but I do not have a bleeding in my eye (which is subconjuctival hemorrage). I have been using pink eye eye drops for the last two days. I have no pain, not itching, no burning feeling, no grittiness, or anything else-just the redness in my eye. Also, I have a cold. The thing that is bothering me is that my vision has become a little distorted. Is that normal?

  1. You can get blurry vision with pink eye due to the extra fluid sitting on the eye.  If you can flush your eye with eye drops or blink a couple times and it goes away it's nothing to worry about, just keep using the drops.

If there is pain or loss of vision (black areas), you should get that checked out.

  2. It is normal. Do you have any antibiotic eye drops?  That will clear it up.  If they crust up, you'll definitely need to get some.

  3. If you got viral conjunctivitis this is normal.

BUT REMEMBER: DO NOT FORGET TO CONSULT AN OPHTHALMOLOGIST BECAUSE BLURRED VISION MAY BE AN INTERNAL AND DANGEROUS INFECTION!!!
