  1. You need to go to:

    Start

    Control Panel

    Sounds and Audio Devices

    Scroll down in Program events until you get to Windows Explorer

    Edit the Start Navigation one to what you want (None).

I always wondered that same thing too.I thought it was a malfunctioning problem,but actually it is part of windows sounds.I found that if you right click your desktop,click personalize,and choose sounds from the menu.You can also pick a wide variety of sounds from rings,bells,beeps and on and on...there is one sound that I like.....it's called balloon.Try it .

  3. It's just how IE works. I would highly recommend using Firefox. It's much faster and safer, which lets face it, if you're using Norton you could do with all the speed you can get due to it's high resources.
