Canada Open Grand Prix: Henri Hurskainen topples Curtis Stensland in Men’s Singles second round
Sweden’s top shuttler Henri Hurskainen proved his elevated position on court when he toppled Curtis Stensland of USA in Men’s Singles second round of Yonex Canada Open Grand Prix 2012 on Thursday, July 12, at Richmond, Canada.
The higher ranked Hurskainen, who is top seed in Men’s Singles draw of the tournament, proved his superior class as he played with superb control throughout the battle against Stensland and easily won it in a commanding fashion.
The top seeded Hurskainen was one class above his USA opponent as he played flawless badminton in the whole contest and ended it up in just 20 minutes by a completely one-sided score on the board.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Stensland was helpless on court as he could not match to the speed of his rival and also remained struggling to tackle the attacking play of Hurskainen. He failed to prove his worth and crashed out in a lopsided manner.
In the first game, Hurskainen showed his highly staggering skills by playing at his best speed and remained successful in setting up a thrashing lead of 11-4 until the mid-game interval.
After the one-minute break, the un-seeded Stensland failed to produce finishing shots and also missed many chances to earn points by hitting the bird out of court.
However, Hurskainen was focused as he controlled and dictated the pace of rallies with an impressive fashion and managed to take the opening game with a huge margin of 21-11.
In the second game, Hurskainen was again on driving seat as he played with precision and managed to set up a five-point advantage of 11-5 until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the top seeded Swedish played was at his best as he did not face any trouble from his USA opponent and stretched his lead on the board.
Hurskainen remained in comfortable position in the entire second game and he easily finished it off with an incredible 21-8 score on the board.
The top seeded Hurskainen ended up this Men’s Singles battle in straight games with a huge difference of 21-11 and 21-8.
