Canada Open Grand Prix: Simone Prutsch ousts Josephine Wu in Women’s Singles first round
Austria’s Simone Prutsch started her campaign in a striking fashion as she put up spectacular performance and ousted Josephine Wu of Canada in Women’s Singles first round at the Yonex Canada Open Grand Prix 2012 at Richmond, on Wednesday, July 11.
Prutsch was at her best on court when she played flawless badminton and remained successful in registering a convincing victory over her local opponent in a wonderful manner.
The in-form Austrian lady was too strong for Josephine on court as she played with tremendous precision and easily thrashed her local opponent in just 21 minutes with a one-sided score on the board.
Josephine, in the meanwhile, tried to elevate her level to cope up with the pace and perfection of her Austrian rival but failed to play positive badminton and eventually lost the match without proving her mettle.
In the opening rallies, both ladies played at the same pace and employed attacking shots to take an early lead but no one could manage it until the score reached at 3-3.
At this stage, Prutsch showed her brilliance as she geared up her speed at net and started to dominate the pace of rallies.
Austrian lady executed impressive smashes that landed perfectly in right areas and she remained successful in grabbing a five-point lead of 11-6 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Prutsch continued her tremendous play without committing unforced errors at any stage. She was in commanding position in opening game and took it with an eight-point margin of 21-13.
In the following set, Josephine showed her incredible skills as she played remarkable badminton from opening rallies.
The Canadian shuttler put up spectacular show of positive and composed badminton and took a stunning lead of 11-7 until the interval.
After the break, Josephine continued showing her elevated performance on court and reached at 15-10.
At this stage, the Canadian lady got a shocking treatment as she failed to maintain her focus in the game which helped her rival to take charge of rallies.
Prutsch played smashing game at this stage and scored 11 consecutive points to finish up the second set with a margin of 21-15.
The in-form Prutsch ousted Josephine in straight sets by taking 21 minutes with a huge margin of 21-13 and 21-15.
