Hey guys I am a Italian Canadian currently living in Toronto, Ontario, but i want to apply to become an American citizen, they offer better opportunities for there sports national teams, i have been recruited by Canada soccer but have no desire to play for a loser, and Team USA has contacted me about the possible recruitment of me because i do have some family living in the states ( In Boston, and Lower Manhattan NYC), preferably i would like to represent Italy but i know that cannot happen because even though my parents were born there they are very strict on Italian born players only. So my desire is to play for the USA, now i am only 17 but they told me to apply for a early citizenship, does anyone know how to do that ? and also im a making the right decision choosing to represent the USA instead of Canada?

  1. Go for whereever offers you more opportunities.

I don't know why the person who contacted you to play for the usa team didn't tell you the way to apply for the job.  First of all, you have to find a way to get a green card through working here with a work permit, ie, you need to have a usa team to hire you and apply the work permit for you, after 2 years, you will get a green card which will help you to be qualified to represent the usa to participate the international touraments such as world cups and olympics etc.

You need to consecutively live in your represented country for 2 years in order to be qualitifed to participate the internatioanl tournament. You are 17, it may take you awhile to get a usa team to hire you, then, continue on the immigration procedures, to the day you are are qualiifed to represent the usa team for international tournaments may be at least 3 years or so.  I think you can represent the usa as long as you have lived in here for 2 years with a green card, but if i am wrong and if you are requested to be the citizen of the usa before you can participate international tournament, then, it may takes you at least 5 or 6 years from now to be qualified to represent the usa for international tournament, but it is less likely you are required to be a citizen in order to represent a country. I think you have to contact that person for information for recruitment.

Anyway, do your best and train hard to always show your best performance in any tournaments, especially in internatioanl tournaments, which can give you more exposures to European soccer team hunters who can offer players big fat pay contract.  If you are a good player, there is no reason why the European teams won't give you a contract, but you need to find opportunities to show your talents and performances to every European hunters  first.

For the usa team, if they are willing to offer the pays as big as they offer to Beckham, of course, that would be as good as you play for the European teams..

    Good lucks !
