  1. Yeah, eh?

  2. I have no trouble usually picking out the Maritimer in a group based on their accent. French Canadians are easy - They most often have a distinctive accent but some with mixed English/French parentage are pretty hard to pick out. Prairie folks - I do not think it is so much an accent that identifies them as their terminology. I think the rest of us have pretty much the same accent but a good ear can pick out local expressions and place them pretty closely to the province they are from. There are some States where I do not find an accent that identifies them as much as expressions or the content of their conversations. Others are very easy to pick out - Texas, districts in New York City, etc.

  3. All English speaking groups have a slightly different accent.

  4. There are many different accents within the US depending on where you are.  It is no different in Canada.  And the accents are different in each country:  Eastern Canada is different from Eastern  US.

  5. Yea, their accents vary as much as American accents do. If they say they don't have accent then that means they haven't been outside of their area. Everyone has an accent, just not everyone realizes it. My husband didn't know he had an accent until I told him. I'm from WI and he's from New Brunswick. Now it's hardly noticeable, but when I first started talking to him it was a lot more apparent.

  6. They pronounce some things differently.  But it depends who you are comparing Canadians to, like Cali or like where i'm from.

But I, being from Minnesota, have a similar accent to Canadians and if i talk to others from somewhere like Texas they think I'm Canadian. But I don't say stuff like "eh" and whatnot.
