Canada cricket team has responded positively to Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) offer of touring the country and has agreed to come in May. However, during that time the national team will be busy preparing for their month-long tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758, which will
begin from June 1, 2012.
The board, after being snubbed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 last month, had invited Afghanistan and Canada to take part in a tri-series, which will be played on Pakistani soil. However, given the Green Shirts’ tight scheduling ahead, the board has informed both countries
that there is little possibility of a series taking place before the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Twenty20 World Cup in September.
"The PCB has thanked Cricket Canada for their interest in sending their cricket team," read a PCB press release. "The PCB is working on the modalities of the proposition and tentatively we are aiming for the tour to materialise after September 2012."
One of the reasons behind the willingness of Canadian cricketing authorities to send their team was to convince PCB to ensure that some of its national team players participate in a Toronto T20 tournament match on May 12. However, the board has yet to issue
the No Objection Certificate to the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Misbah-ul-Haq-c1972, despite showing verbal backing earlier.
In another effort, PCB is organizing the second edition of the Pakistan Champions League which is starting on May 20. The tournament will be featuring 32 domestic teams including four foreign clubs from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saudi-Arabia-c3000.
Pakistan has been deprived from international cricket since 2009 after the gunmen attack on Sri Lankan cricket team's bus. Despite having approached the International Cricket Council (ICC) to help them end the cricketing drought from the country, the ICC
is still reluctant, but offered leniency in their stance – like the Dispensation Policy of allowing Pakistan to host an international match after appointing local officials.
The board intends to stage a Pakistan Premier League later in the year, in hopes to attract big cricketing names, some of whom have already shown their eagerness to participate – including the likes of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brian-Charles-Lara-c48471.
