Canada beat Brazil in water polo game: Day six – 2012 Women’s Pan Pacs, Melbourne
Canada beat Brazil in their fifth water polo match on sixth day of the 2012 Women’s Pan Pacs at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) on Friday, January 13.
The Canadians demonstrated their ruthless efforts against Brazilians and pocketed victory with a significant difference of sixteen goals. Canadian team, which now stands fourth on the Women’s rankings list, crushed all efforts of the Brazilian squad. The
match concluded with a score of 19-3.
The match seemed tough in the first quarter, where both teams scored equal goals and the score remained 2-2 after the round. Nonetheless, the Canadian squad raised their efforts in the second quarter and smothered all efforts of their challenging team by
scoring six consecutive goals. Brazil failed to ascend on the scorecard and the halftime ended with a score of 8-2.
Just like the first half, the Canadian team dictated terms to their competitors and dominated the third quarter of the game. Once again, Canada accomplished five goals while Brazil remained at nil and the score went up to 13-2 after the third round. The
final round saw Canadian players claiming victory as they notched six goals while Brazilians managed to score a single goal only.
On the other side, USA once again failed to claim victory in the Men’s water polo event and ended in a draw with Australian Barbarians. The match concluded with 9-all and USA stepped down on the overall rankings list.
The match was pretty tense as both teams scored two goals each in the first two quarters, but Barbarians gained lead in the third round, where they scored three goals and USA succeeded in scoring a single goal.
Barbarians were in a prominent lead until the fourth quarter, where they passed the ball twice in their opponent’s goal but the Americans elevated their struggle and scored four goals, levelling the game to 9-9. USA now stands second on the overall points
table behind Australia, which has a lead of one point.
The session ended after the conclusion of all scheduled water polo matches while the spectators could not wait to see what comes up on final day of the tournament.
