Canada defeat Scotland by 3-2 in second test of three-match series at Edinburgh

It was a fine sunny day, when the men’s hockey team of Canada defeated Scotland by 3-2 in the second test of the three-match series. The nail-biting contest was held at the Peffermill in Scottish city of Edinburgh.
From very start of the game, the Canadian players started a more aggressive game and generated numerous goal-scoring chances. Matt Guest managed to take the ball into the circle and earned first penalty-corner of the day in the 11th minute of
the game. Hudson Stewart and Dave Jameson managed a perfect hit for Scott Tupper who scored first goal of the day and put Canada on the score-board.
In the 16th minute of the game, Mark Pearson obtained the second penalty-corner of the game increasing pressure for the home side. However, the flicking hit of Canadian striker failed to past the Scottish goal-keeper. In the very next minute,
they carried out one more attack and generated another short-corner. But the Scottish goalie was not ready to give up and made an impressive dive to clear the ball.
The game became more balanced, as one side wanted to level the score, while the other wanted to hold the lead. After missing a couple of short-corners, Scotland obtained another penalty-corner in the 30th minute of the game and Daniel Coultas
had it all even at 1-1. He stuck a powerful flick, which moved swiftly into the goal-post. The first half concluded with both teams holding a 1-1 dead-lock with them to the sidelines.
In the second half of play, the Canadian team continued their dominance over the host side. With two minutes into the second half, Keegan Pereira unleashed a powerful shot at the Scottish goal and regained a single goal lead, 2-1. Soon after the three minutes
of play, a Canadian player managed to take the ball away at top the circle and generated another penalty-corner. However, the Scottish goal-keeper deflected the Tupper’s hit and cleared the ball from the circle.
Another penalty-corner was awarded to Canada in the 48th minute of the game, but to no avail. The Scottish custodian successfully handled the ball and denied the hit from Tupper. Apart from several missing efforts, Canada was still holding the
game under their control.
The Scottish side earned a short-corner in the 59th minute of the game after the ball touched the feet of Dave Jameson. Michael Christie of Scotland unleaded the ball and made the game levelled again at 2-2. However, the Canadian attackers were
not happy with the tie-up.
In the 66th minute of the game, Pereira created another chance and scored the third goal for his team. In the remaining time period, an end-to-end play was observed and Canada won the game by a single point and levelled the series at 1-1.
