  1. I'm not very familiar with the laws in Quebec, but these links will help both you and your mom learn more:

  2. Kels, great question! Generally, a high school education would qualify your mom for homeschooling. I live in Tennessee, USA, so I am ignorant of specifics for your province. It's great that you're thinking about homeschooling! It can be a lot of fun and very inexpensive. There are books about how to find homeschooling materials at low cost. The library is free, where you can find books on subjects that interest you. You could do science experiments with materials already in your kitchen. Your mom could join a homeschooling group called a "co-op", which I know exist in Quebec, where she can get advice from parents who already have experience in homeschooling. This is also where you can connect with friends who share your interests. Check out the websites listed in the answer above to find out where to do the paperwork. If there's something you're trying to run away from at your school, homeschooling won't solve your problems. Talk to your mom, a counselor at school, or a trusted adult to work out your problem. If you still want to homeschool, it can be very rewarding, Kels, for you and your mom. I hope it works out that you can. Best wishes!

P.S. - I've been to Quebec, it's a lovely place. Want to go back someday!

  3. Your Mom should go to your local school and tell them what you want to do. I believe your local school has to agree so they can provide the forms you need or at least help you to get them.

Your mom has to make sure you learn everything that you would learn in a regular school because you will have to pass exactly the same provincial exams as in a regular school.

Unfortunately, Quebec is the least helpful province for home schooling. (Pour eux c'est pas normale).

    Bonne chance!

  4. Every province has different laws regarding homeschooling.  Basically you have to be registered or enrolled with some sort of school board.  There are many different boards in Alberta and BC that have varying levels of rules.   Usually they monitor what is taught and ensure that learning is taking place.  Sometimes you have to follow the learning outcomes of your province, sometimes not.   Also there is usually money available for materials.  Out west we can get anywhere from $150 to $1,100 dollars per child for materials, music lessons, or sports per year.   Usually the money is more if you give them more control over your education.   Remember, your mom pays taxes and it costs the province maybe $6,000 to educate you for one year, so if they provide funds for the parents it's still way cheaper for the government.  In Quebec it could be totally different.   Try to google homeschool groups anywhere in your province  to find other homeschoolers and ask them how they do it.   Sometimes, like I say there is quite a lot of choice.   And even more choice when you are choosing materials.  And no, your mom does not have to be super smart, but you have to be super motivated, and she will have to oversee you to make sure you are not goofing off.  (I heard kids do that sometimes)    Some people are registered with their local school district and just do the same stuff the kids at school do, just at home.     Best bet is to find homeschoolers in your area.    There could be a variety of places to register, you have to find the one that suits you the best.
