Canada to extend athletics opportunities to their players - New National Track League
With the aim to promote competitive skills of their athletes for next year’s London Olympics, Canada has decided to launch a National League set. Keeping in view the importance of next year’s much awaited Olympic gala, nations around the globe are striving
hard to prepare their players, but this new step by the Canada is one of its own kinds.
Given the resolve and commitment along with the preparation of the nation for the big event, it is expected that their efforts will certainly yield the desired results.
The track league being initiated by the Athletics Canada is comprised of a five-meet series and is formally known as the National Track League. The series will kick-off with the first event, this summer. According to news from well placed sources, the authorities
at AC have plans to establish this new meet on the foundations of a five-year plan. In terms of achieving tangible results, those at the helm of the affairs are targeting the Rio Olympics 2016.
The newly planned series is aimed at providing an opportunity to most of the Canadian athletes to prepare themselves for the big challenge of the coming year. That is the reason why the programme will commence in five major cities of the country namely Edmonton,
Victoria, Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax.
Organising a series like NTL on home grounds will do a significant service to the local runners, as they will not have to bear the expenses for participating in the high-end competitive opportunities. To lessen the financial burdens of the athletes and to
encourage them to participate in this about to be launched athletics event, it has been decided by the Athletics Canada that lanes will be kept reserved for Canadian runners, while the travel and accommodation costs will be borne by the League.
All the above mentioned incentives along with lucrative cash prizes for participants by performing well in respective events, athletes will have a chance to add up to the points for a federal funding card system. Provided that the runners display a world
class performance, they shall also be supported to accompany the Canadian team to contest in the IAAF World Championships.
Besides honing the skills of their athletes to bag titles for the nations, AC is also planning to use the series for recruiting additional sponsors to enhance the value of their commercial partners. Furthermore, once commenced successfully, the event will
enhance the volunteer base of the organisers in all cities where the meets will take place. Taking on the opportunity, the cities too will enjoy the chance of showcasing their athletics talent for laying the foundation of organising future sports endeavours.
