Canada versus Panama – Gold Cup: First half review

The match kicked off at a ferocious pace as both the teams looked to be in aggressive moods when it came to tackling. In the 4th minute, Ledgerwood unleashed a brilliant shot at Panama’s goal but his effort lacked the sufficient accuracy as the ball sailed wide of the goal posts. In the 6th minute, Simeon Jackson tried his luck on Panama’s goal bus effort was wayward as the ball went out of play for a goal kick.
In the 13th minute, Canada were caught out at the back as Amando Cooper found himself in space inside their penalty area. However the Panama’s midfielder was a bit wide of the mark with his shot as Milan Borjan was left untested in Canada’s goal. In the 19th minute, Bilas Perez tried to fire a powerfully hit shot past Milan Borjan but the Canadian goalkeeper held onto the ball expertly as the score line remained at nil all.
In the 28th minute, Canada were on the front foot as http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luis-Mejia-c22750. However Mejia brilliantly tracked the flight of the ball and managed to tip it away from his goal just in time before the ball sneaked in past the goal line.
It was a wonderful save from the young goalkeeper who kept his team in the match with it. Thus the first half eventually came to an end with the score line at nil all. Both the teams had some half-chances to score in the first 45 minutes but their lack of finishing meant that the first half ended goalless.
