Canada-what is Prince George and Queen Charlotte Island like?

People from there or who have been there-

Please describe these places for me, their location in Canada, why you like/don't like being there, travel, shops, are there a lot or not much people, boring or interesting, etc

Prince George is known as BC's northern capital.  It's a small inland city, around 70,000 people, so you won't find all the amenities of larger centers.  Its main indusry is a pulp and paper mill, and the related jobs.   There are quite a few other small businesses there including chemical plants, an oil refinery and all the other businesses needed to keep a community going.  There's a casino, movie theatre, mini-golf, provincial parks, skiing.  Lots of truck traffic passes through there.  Greyhound Bus provides daily service north,south, east, and west, and there are daily flights to Vancouver, as well as flights to smaller communities in the region.  There is also a train service both for freight and for passengers.  I am not sure where the passenger service connects.  There are quite a few annual events and festivals, and the area gets thousands of tourists.  Adventure tourism is popular.  Shopping is somewhat limited, but the major box stores are beginning to move in.  It was not a place I'd want to spend a lot of time - too far from the ocean for me.  

I loved the Queen Charlotte Islands - a much better destination for me than Prince George.   In the ocean, spectacular beauty, old growth rain forests, hot springs, ancient native Haida villages.  There are two main islands An awesome experience.  Some of the land is protected as Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage Site.  Only a few thousand people live on the islands, spread over a large area.  There are two major communities of about a thousand people each.  The main trasportation to the islands is by ferry and by floatplane service.  I wil go back again.
