What is the best canadian city to live in?

it depends what you're looking for but I would pick Vancouver BC. it's got the ocean and the mountains, and there's so much to do there. i love it. calgary is great also but no ocean haha. it's all personal preference though.

Vancouver (Either Downtown or in more residential areas)

Make sure you find a good area too if you are planning to live in the city. (And Surrey is one of the worst places to live in  greater vancouver..in my opinion)

I guess that depends on your perspective. Do I have a job or am I retired? Do I like to party hard on weekends or do I want to relax and get away from the hustle-bustle? Do I have children that need a good school, or am I a student that wants to have affordable tuition, housing and food costs? Am I worried about having my home broken into and robbed, or do I want to feel safe walking home at midnight from a local bar or a friend's house?

All these things factor in and it is impossible to give a good choice.

Not picking on the Annie who suggested two cities, but if I asked someone living in or around the Whalley district of Surrey if they think it is a great city, I would suspect many would disagree. If I asked the parents of Jane Creba whether they thought Toronto is a great city, after their daughter was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting the day after Christmas 2005, I think they may hesitate.

So I ask you: Give us some criteria for what you are looking for in a city you consider "the best" and we can perhaps offer some suggestions that would be more meaningful.
